Located just blocks from the future Judkins Park station of the EastLink Light Rail expansion, Grand Street Commons is a known brownfield, 3.2 acre site that LUP is developing in conjunction with Mt. Baker Housing. By assembling a substantial public benefit package which includes proximity to transit, significant retail offerings, and 30% affordable housing, LUP is able to work directly with the Department of Ecology and Mt. Baker Housing on contamination mitigation strategies. This innovate approach to handling a complex remediation effort allows LUP to develop a substantial project, both in residential unit count and retail square footage, on a previously undevelopable site. Currently in design and permitting, LUP plans to break ground in late 2020.
